Union of Muslim Scholars critical of France's refusal to grant visa-Qaradawi
Criticized the International Union for Muslim Scholars, headed by cleric of Egyptian origin and country citizenship Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the French government over its decision to deny the last visa to attend an Islamic conference.
The secretary of the union Qaradaghi, in remarks to AFP Monday: "We are surprised and Natb France for refusing to grant Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi a visa to enter the territory."
He added that al-Qaradawi "moderate jurist and shares in the fight against extremism in Islamic thought," explaining that the EU respects the sovereign decisions of France in terms of principle.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said in an earlier radio "Frans Info" he told himself that the Emir of Qatar, al-Qaradawi, "not welcome" in France.
Qaradawi was invited to participate in the annual gathering of the Federation of Islamic Associations in France, to be held at Le Bourget near Paris on the sixth of next month.
On the other hand said Qaradaghi Union of Muslim Scholars "strongly condemns the terrorist attack that took place recently in the French city of Toulouse."
He added that al-Qaradawi Qaradaghi "condemned this operation because it is inconsistent with the principles of the Union and authority."

The al-Qaradawi (86 years) is one of the most prominent Sunni clerics thanks to its programs on Al-Jazeera, and his fatwas in Islam Online site.
